Driving and Technical Training Services (DTTS) specialises in on and off road driver training courses including four wheel drive, farm use, and ATV driver training. The company was formed by company director Gene Browne who has been a leading trainer for a number 4WD training organisations. This means DTTS clients can access many years of 4WD training experience in the DTTS team. Where other specialist skills are needed qualified and experienced associates can be called into provide a quality service. DTTS offers a variety of training and consulting options to suit clients in a niche core market. This focal market is centred on off-road driving and related off road platforms, including: 4WD’s, quad bikes, side by side vehicles (LUVs), and tractors.
Gene Browne
Company director Gene Browne has been the principal rural trainer in a number of other successful large training organisations. Gene has a PhD in science and takes a technical approach to training. He is a strong communicator and is comfortable talking to all levels of staff (from corporate CEO’s to grass roots farm hands in the back blocks). In the early 1990’s, Gene started sitting off road training courses to complement his field ecology work and from there starting helping with an established professional TAG along provider. He gained more experience through working in a variety of terrains in New Zealand and internationally. In the early - mid 2000’s he was involved in Winch Challenge 4WD events and gained a solid reputation for extreme recovery operations. From there he moved to NZQA and non-unit standard training on a variety of rural courses. Although commercial training is far removed from the extreme nature of past 4WD competitions, Gene knows that the techniques and experience he brings from this background means that the courses he delivers are not only best practise but the skills he teaches are practical and they work in the real world.
Gene has successfully delivered a number of training courses throughout New Zealand and internationally and gets great client reviews. He has helped with key relationships with 4WD vehicle manufacturers and was contracted to demonstrate vehicles off road while sharing product knowledge and capabilities. Gene holds a number of specialist NZQA qualifications, is a qualified driving instructor (i.e. holds an I driver’s endorsement), and holds an AgExcel endorsement from the Primary ITO.
